- Meira Kumar was born on 31st March, 1945 to the former Deputy Prime Minister and dalit leader Babu Jagjivan Ram and Freedom fighter Indrani Devi in Patna, Bihar.
- She did MA and LLB from Delhi- Indraprastha college and Miranada House.
- She is IFS and deputed to many countries.
- She entered into politics in 1985 and elected from Bijnor - UP.
- She was the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment cabinet minister in Congress led Government from 2004 to 2009.
- She is Married to Manjul Kumar, An advocate in Supreme Court and blessed with three children.
- She is a sportswoman and have great interest in rifle shooting.
- She is also a poetess.
- Now, she is the first woman speaker of Lok sabha and created a history in the indian polictics arena.
